In the Victorian era many arrived with plans to stay throughout the entire summer to enjoy the fishing, biking, and golf. Winter gained popularity in the mid-1900's with the advent of skiing, both alpine and Nordic. Cross country skiing in Jackson is considered by many to be the best in the East.
